1 Introduction
The Placement and Professional Development module provides an opportunity to gain practical, work-based experience in an area of sport and/or physical activity that is professionally relevant to you.
Experiences during placement should encourage the transfer of university-based learning in an applied context.
In this module, the term ‘placement provider’ is used to describe any organisation or group where a placement experience can be completed. This may include sports clubs, local authority facilities, private companies and so on. It is important that the provider is an established organisation or company with a track record in delivering sport or physical activity-related activities.
In this module, the term ‘client’ or ‘clients’ is used to refer to any group or individual with whom the provider works. This may include players, customers, members, learners and so on.
We also identify a key contact within the provider, often referred to as the ‘placement supervisor’. This is the person with whom the module leader will interact before, during, and after your placement. This person will also conduct the mid-placement review, which is a key element of the placement experience.
